THE HISTORY OF GRAFFITI

The plural is used as a mass noun . Also known as graff , graffiti is writing or drawing that have been
scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitiy on a wall or other face in a public place. The earliest forms
of gaffiti date to 3,000 bc in Ephesus, an ancient Greek city. Modern day graffiti started in the 1920's
with art on boxcars. Graffiti erupted in the 1960's as political statements by gangs.

5 important people in graffiti are Taki 183, Zephyr,Dondi, Phase 2, Cope 2.

We like graffiti because you get to express yourself by writing, drawing, and painting.

Breakdancing came from the New york streets in the 1700's. Breakdancing popularity died when the hip-hop scene changed in the early 1900's. The 1980's was the height of the breakdancing craze.

The definition of dj is disc jockey. Djs use special equiment like turn tables, speakers, headphones, and laptops. Dj's have been around since the 19th century. Dj's practice in their studios. Dj's play in night clubs, bars, and parties. Dj's get music and put them together and they do a remix or a mix.

Beyonce (Women's History Month Tribute)

             Beyonce was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. Beyonce caught the Media's attention by forming a group called Destiny's Child. A few years went by then she started a solo career. She then became one of music's top-selling artists. Knowles has also starred in several films, including Dream Girls. She married hip-hop recording artist Jay-Z in 2008.
         Born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas, Knowles started singing at an early age. As a child, she competed in local talent shows, and won many of these events by impressing audiences with her natural singing and dancing abilities.
         Teaming up with her cousin, Kelly Rowland, and two classmates, Beyoncé formed an all-female singing group. The group went through some name and line-up changes before landing a record deal in 1997 with Columbia Records. Destiny's Child soon became one of the most popular R&B acts, with the release of their first, self-titled album. Gaining momentum, the group scored its first No. 1 single on the pop charts with "Bills, Bills, Bills," off their second album. The recording also featured another smash hit, "Say My Name."
        On her own, Beyoncé continued to enjoy great success. Her second studio album, 2006's B'Day featured such hits as "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar." On the big screen, she starred opposite Jennifer Hudson, Jaime Foxx and Eddie Murphy in Dreamgirls.
         The newlywed continued to work as hard as ever, promoting her latest effort, I am ... Sasha Fierce (2008). Beyoncé scored two big hits off the album—"Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" and "If I Were a Boy." She also returned to the big screen that year, starring as R&B legend Etta James in Cadillac Records.

Celia Cruz's Life Story

Celia  Cruz was born in Havana, Cuba on October 21, 1925. Later on as she grow up  she was getting a lot of attenion as a singer. Celia was raised in a poor Havana neigborhood of Satos Suarez. Celia's singing career started to rise. When Celia was in college her Professor told her that she should drop out and continue singing and she did but later on she went back to collage but was still performing. Celia Cruz then died in New Jersey on July 16, 2003 at the age 77. On September 17, 1987 Cruz was honored a star on the Hollywood Walk that is still there today.
